The Wedding Date by Jasmine Guillory

official blurbAgreeing to go to a wedding with a guy she gets stuck with in an elevator is something Alexa Monroe wouldn't normally do. But there's something about Drew Nichols that's too hard to resist. On the eve of his ex's wedding festivities, Drew is minus a plus one. Until a power outage strands him with the perfect candidate for a fake girlfriend...After Alexa and Drew have more fun than they ever thought possible, Drew has to fly back to Los Angeles and his job as a pediatric surgeon, and Alexa heads home to Berkeley, where she's the mayor's chief of staff. Too bad they can't stop thinking about the other... They're just two high-powered professionals on a collision course toward the long distance dating disaster of the century--or closing the gap between what they think they need and what they truly want.my blurb!Interracial couple meets in an elevator and agrees to pretend to be dating. Romance and hilarity ensues.3 out of 5Let me start by saying, this is a romance novel. I had NO idea about that going into this book and I probably wouldn't have picked it up if I had known that.  But I did have a goal this month to read something outside of my wheelhouse.  I thought it would be something more like historical fiction, but alas it was indeed a romance novel.(Side note- you see this cover right? Aren't romance novels supposed to have a shirtless Adonis on the front cover? haha)I've read a lot of bad books lately- in fact this book is the only book I've read so far in February and I read it in the first few days. It is now well on its way to the last week of February and I have yet to pick up another book! So this is my caveat for this book that perhaps after the rubbish I've read this one was seen with rose colored glasses. I read it quickly and even laughed out loud a few times throughout.  Of course it wasn't realistic remotely but it was still a quick enjoyable read.  Also three cheers for interracial fictional couples! Let's get some more of those please!while reading you shouldEat: Cake- preferably wedding cakeListen to: slow jams (hah!)Visit: a hotel (that seems random and potentially dirty suggestion but the main characters meet in a hotel! haha)To buy this book- click hereDuxSignature smallercopy
