Is there a point when you age out of a genre? Because I think I may have aged out of the young adult dystopian tales. Nothing about this book was awful. It just wasn't original. And seriously, another helpless heroine? SOMEONE PLEASE WRITE BETTER FEMALE PROTAGONISTS! That being said- I remember the rush of first reading Divergent and LOVING it. I'm convinced if I read it now, I wouldn't love it still! Why is that? Something about the dystopian genre has become lost on me, I guess. Who knew this day would come?!SO, I picked this book up because I read that it recently cast its rolls for an upcoming movie. I always want to read a good book to movie so I couldn't resist. Like I said, not awful, but I didn't get any twists in this book. I actually got a little bored reading it. I was never shocked, and never impressed. But I think that if you're in the mood for a dystopian tale- this one is still a valid one to pick up. (It does have a 4 star rating on goodreads - so you know a lot of people out there loved it) What I liked-camaraderie of the crew our leading lady ends up withWhat I didn't like-the leading ladythe twists or surprises that were never surprisingIt should be noted that this is the first in a trilogy that have all been published. It should also be noted that this book does feature sexual assault (it's not graphic but it is present)
